The one thing even the best avoid—until it’s too late

“I’ll get to it later.”

That’s what he told himself.

Senior-decision maker of a pro sports org.

High performer.

Nonstop schedule.

Until later became too late to ignore.

He thought it was just fatigue.

Turned out to be a life-threatening disease.

Why mention it today?

Because the higher up you go, the harder it gets to ask for help.

You’re used to being the one with the answers.

The one who doesn’t flinch.

The one people lean on.

But when your body or mind starts waving the white flag?

You can’t just grind your way through it.

My client had to face something most elite performers never want to admit.

And I’ve personally gone through it more than enough times myself:

There’s the kind of resilience where you push through.

And then there’s the maturity to know when to pause.

Once he accepted and respected that truth, everything shifted.

He got support.

He got educated.

He got better.

And I still work with leaders like him every day.

The ones who never ask for help.

Until they have to.

If you’re always the one in control, you need to know:

Asking for help isn’t weakness.

It’s strength.

And it might just save your life.
