When I Grow Up: Sports Industry Edition is a special series for students and transitioners exploring careers in the sports industry.

It's never too late to start.

Lauren Shoss has seen it happen.

Maybe you’re at a crossroads.

Unsure of what direction to take.

Maybe you thought your path would be in medicine like Lauren.

But suddenly felt drawn to something new like sports.

Maybe you worry it’s too late to switch lanes.

But here’s what Lauren would say to you:

“It’s never too late.

When I was 23, I landed this Mental Performance Scouting Program Specialist role with the Toronto Blue Jays.

I remember my mom posting on Facebook:

‘MLB at 23.’”

It felt surreal.

She never imagined that for herself.

But it happened.

And now she’s one of only a few women in Amateur Scouting.

She had no clue the kind of opportunities that would open up.

She certainly didn’t see herself as “the perfect fit.”

But she stayed open.

And that made all the difference.

Are you a student trying to figure out your future?

Or a pro looking for something new?

You can still make a change.

And the only mistake you can make is thinking you’ve run out of time.

If you’re looking to take that leap,

NOW IS THE TIME.

The game is waiting for you.

They’ll be so grateful you helped them with theirs.

And a very special thank you to Lauren for sharing her experience with us.

We appreciate you Lauren!
